Seems like Nav had a pretty rough childhood in Toronto. Rough enough that he once needed his head stapled shut after a fight.
While chatting with N3on, the artist described growing up in a “different era” than today.
“When we was growing up, there wasn’t the cameras and everything,” Nav explained around the 6:15 mark in the video above. “A lot of ass whoopings in middle school that were really embarrassing and would have been viral back in my time that just couldn’t be.”
When N3on asked Nav about being in “street fights,” Nav admitted he pulled a lot of “punk shit” during high school.
“To be honest, that shit’s not worth it ’cause you can really fuck your whole life up,” he confessed. “I got 12 staples on the back of my head from getting hit with a bottle.”
Just last week, Nav released his newest album, OMW2 Rexdale, paying tribute to Toronto’s Rexdale neighborhood where he was raised. The project features just a few guest appearances from Don Toliver, Playboi Carti, and Metro Boomin, and follows Nav’s 2022 album Demons Protected by Angels.
Carti’s feature on the track “Unlimited” stirred up some drama since it was originally meant to be a collab for Offset’s 2023 album, Set It Off. But Carti never cleared the sample and later gave it to Nav instead, who also added a verse from The Weeknd.
