Ye Claims Frank Ocean’s Career Was ‘Ended’ by His Song “Moon”

During his chat with DJ Akademiks, the artist formerly known as Kanye West declared, while sporting a black Ku Klux Klan-style robe and hood, that Frank Ocean’s career is “over.”

At one point in the interview, where he also wore a Sean John t-shirt and swastika chain, Ye proclaimed himself the greatest living artist and specifically trashed Frank Ocean, an artist he’s worked with several times. “I make music better… No one make music that’s nowhere as near as good as music,” he told Akademiks. “When I made ‘Moon,’ it basically ended Frank Ocean’s [career]. He ain’t have a song since then!”

He’s talking about his 2021 track “Moon,” which features Kid Cudi and Don Toliver from his album Donda. “I heard it, I was like, ‘Oh this n***a’s never gonna be able to make another album again,'” he continued. “Any genre of music that anyone has, I make a better version of it. I’m ten times stronger at music than anyone living.”

It’s been five years since Frank Ocean released any new music, with his last full album, the unforgettable Blonde, dropping back in 2016. That said, a snippet of unreleased Frank music recently appeared in UFC fighter Payton Talbott’s vlog – Ocean was even spotted supporting Talbott at his UFC 311 fight in January. Pharrell hinted last year that Ocean has been “cooking” up fresh tunes. We also learned in January that the mysterious singer-songwriter has recruited rising star David Jonsson for his directorial debut, which started filming in Mexico City earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Ye has been posting Nazi-themed content on social media for months and recently self-released a project that barely made a ripple in the music world.
