Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles has Harlem connections, as Cam’ron explained during a recent podcast appearance.
Last week, a clip surfaced showing the Dipset member revealing that his uncle, Herb Hudson, established the famous California restaurant chain back in 1975. Just like the rapper and podcaster, Hudson originally came from Harlem.
“I know everybody in California be like, ‘Yo, that’s our shit, that’s our shit,’ he said. “Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles is absolutely a California thing. But if y’all didn’t know, some Harlem n****s own it, my family, actually.”
Cam also shared how the original Roscoe’s started in Long Beach before expanding to other areas. “And shout out to my uncle right now. We’re about to move to San Diego, new location in San Diego, and we’re opening 20 locations in Mexico City.”
Cam’ron wrapped up by giving a special mention to his uncles Herman (‘Herb’) and Warren, both of whom appeared with him in a photo he posted on Instagram in May 2023.
“Fun fact: would you believe me if I told you that the owner/founder of Roscoes chicken and Waffles was from Harlem? And that he’s my uncle?!… nah I wouldn’t believe me either. Oh well” Cam wrote in the post’s caption.
Roscoe’s marks its 50th anniversary this year and now has over seven restaurants across Los Angeles. One of the chain’s biggest fans is Snoop Dogg, who even brought the late Larry King for a visit back in 2008.
