J. Cole’s highly anticipated album The Fall Off delivers “top-level rapping” and “top-level storytelling” according to producer DZL.
In a recent chat with Complex at Dreamville Fest Public Access, DZL shared insights about working on Cole’s long-awaited project. “It’s Cole in his bag,” DZL revealed. “Top tier raps, top-level rapping, top-level storytelling. This project is going to give people a deeper insight into him as a man, him as a human being, him as a father, and him as a husband.”
“I think he’s mysterious and stays out of the public eye, away from the spotlight,” DZL added. “This album is going to give more of an insight into who he is and it’s really incredible — top to bottom no skips. I really can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
J. Cole has been keeping quiet about The Fall Off‘s release date. Back in January, he jumped on his The Algorithm blog to address rumors after people thought his posting activity meant the album was dropping soon.
“Ib told me some people was thinking this blog meant an album was about to drop,” Cole wrote. “Nahhh. Not exactly. when it’s time for something you will know. This is not that. I just wanted a place to share documentaries I be watching on YouTube and songs I f—k with.”
“Thank you to everybody for the love today in the form of the comments, the chat and all the texts I got that I’m trying to reply to while also spending time with family and friends. I do appreciate it. This was the anthem for the day. For reallllll,” he added.
Last December, J. Cole dropped a hint that the album might arrive before Dreamville Festival. During his Madison Square Garden show, Cole told the crowd, “I’ll see y’all at Dreamville Festival. Hopefully, I’ll have something new to perform for y’all.”
