Big Sean recently faced the challenge of selecting between two of his favorite artists, Eminem and Lil Wayne, sharing how deeply their music resonates with him.
While chatting on Sound Check with Jeremy Hecht, the rapper was asked to pick between Lil Wayne’s “A Milli” and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” The Detroit-born artist vibed to both tracks before making his difficult choice.
“It’s crazy. Eminem and Lil Wayne—the impact they’ve both had on me, how they both gone out their way for me,” Sean explained. “8 Mile just inspired me crazy but so did ‘A Milli,’ dog. When [Lil Wayne] dropped ‘A Milli,’ it was unbelievable.”
Sean then remembered how Wayne delivered an incredible verse on their joint track “Deep” from his Dark Sky Paradise album which dropped in 2015. He also highlighted how his team-ups with Em, including “Detroit Vs. Everybody,” “No Favors” and others were absolute hits. Sean went on to explain his deep connection to the music.
“I take it personal, I take the music personal,” Sean said before making his selection. “This is a tough one. I really want to choose both. If I just had to choose right now, I’m gonna go with Em.”
Big Sean recently shared that he’s eager to hit the studio with Justin Bieber. Earlier this week, Bieber posted on Instagram asking artists to slide into his DMs if they wanted to work together. Sean responded to the invitation along with several other musicians, including Drake, Jaden Smith, and Kehlani.
