Fans are buzzing about possible drama between White Lotus stars Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood.
Gossip about an alleged beef between Goggins and Wood, who portrayed the on-screen couple Rick and Chelsea in the popular HBO show’s third season, kicked off when eagle-eyed followers noticed the actors aren’t following each other on Instagram anymore.
Even though both recently posted on Instagram about their characters’ storylines, neither tagged the other despite including photos of each other in their posts.
Goggins, 53, wrote a heartfelt, detailed caption describing Rick and Chelsea’s storyline as “a love story” that was “hindered by unresolved, childhood trauma” before expressing gratitude to Wood, White Lotus creator Mike White, and his fellow cast members.
“Thank you Mike White for your imagination, your tender heart, for the privilege of giving us the opportunity to tell it. Thank you Aimee Lou for being my partner… a journey I will never forget,” he posted on Instagram on Sunday. “Sammy Rock for being the best wing man a fella could ask for. And every stellar fucking actor in this cast…. You’re just incredible to watch. Bernad, John, Ben, Kamine… and this whole crew. I love you. We’ll always have Thailand. And to all of you…thank you for going on this journey with us.”
On the other hand, 31-year-old Wood kept things more low-key with a casual photo of her co-star alongside the caption, “The perfect storm .”
Despite these observations, both actors have spoken positively about each other in recent interviews.
Wood recently told the Hollywood Reporter that she felt “sad” about Goggins not attending the series’ finale event.
“I was sad that Walton wasn’t there because it was something that we did together but also it’s so fucking Rick and Chelsea,” Wood told THR. “Like, of course Walton had to watch it alone and of course I had to watch it in the group because there is so much Aimee in Chelsea and so much Walton in Rick.”
“The first time I met Aimee, I knew that she was going to be a very, very, very important person in my life, and I think she would say the same thing,” Goggins told the Associated Press last month. “I’ve had chemistry with a lot of people over the course of my career, but I knew instantaneously that this was a person that we could go anywhere together—and right out of the gate we just became very, very, very close.”
He added, “Trust was an integral part of that process, and we both wanted to honor the story of Rick and Chelsea and found their love to be intoxicating and something that didn’t exist in time and space the way that we knew it, but was over 1000 years, if you will, you know? And I felt that way the first time I met her. I felt I had known her for 1000 years, and I think she felt the same about me. So we had an incredible dance, the two of us.”
