Soulja Boy Hit With Multi-Million Dollar Judgment in Civil Assault Trial

Soulja Boy has been slapped with millions in damages after a civil trial where he was accused of assaulting a woman and keeping her captive.

The accuser in the case, as previously reported, had asked the jury to award her over $73 million. According to live court updates from independent legal journalist Meghann Cuniff and Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon, the jury found Soulja liable for assault, sexual battery, and infliction of emotional distress, with total damages amounting to more than $4 million.

During the trial, Soulja denied all accusations against him, claiming any sexual encounters between himself and the accuser were consensual. The allegations, he stated while testifying earlier this month, were “disgusting” and “crazy.” As previously reported, the “Crank That” artist and Atlanta guest star had been accused of assault and other charges by a woman who reportedly used to work for him, though the exact nature of that working relationship was disputed throughout the legal proceedings.

While the accuser has consistently been described as an “assistant,” Soulja argued she was actually hired for “rolling weed” for him, though he previously admitted to calling her an assistant “in a public setting” because he felt that was “more appropriate,” according to Rolling Stone.

During the trial, text messages allegedly sent from the accuser to Soulja Boy’s manager were also heavily scrutinized in court. Notably, as Cuniff recently pointed out, this might not be the end of Soulja’s current legal troubles.
