Judge Allegedly Informs Wendy Williams Her Career Is ‘Done’

Wendy Williams was allegedly “hurt” when a judge commented on her career during a recent court appearance related to her ongoing guardianship situation.

According to TMZ, the former talk show star showed up in court Thursday regarding her guardianship case. Multiple sources told the outlet that Judge Lisa Sokoloff unexpectedly brought up Williams’ career, stating she had a successful run but that it’s now finished.

“It’s done,” the judge reportedly said.

Sokoloff also seemingly criticized Williams’ niece, Alex Finnie, accusing her of leaking private information to the media and warning of sanctions if it happens again. The judge described Wendy’s family as “no good.”

Sources informed TMZ that Sokoloff’s remarks “hurt Wendy deeply,” and the motivation behind these seemingly unprovoked comments remains unclear.

Williams has since hired Joe Tacopina as her attorney. On Friday, he told TMZ that the judge made those statements during a “court proceeding that has nothing to do with her career” and shows “bias.” He also called Williams “absolutely capable” of hosting a talk show.

Last month, Williams expressed her desire to end her guardianship after passing her capacity test. “At this point in my life, I want to terminate [the] guardianship and move on with my life, if that’s possible at all,” she told The View.

In 2022, Wells Fargo froze Williams’ accounts and requested financial guardianship as her health declined. She was diagnosed with Graves’ disease in 2018 and primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023.

A court later appointed New York lawyer Sabrina Morrissey as Williams’ guardian, and the 60-year-old now resides in a New York City care facility.
