Missy Elliott showed up to Coachella with a wild costume that nobody else could rock quite like her.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer made her flashy return to Coachella on Friday night (April 11) during the festival’s opening day. What appeared to be a ‘car’ on stage turned out to be Missy herself wearing an incredible Transformers-inspired outfit.
Missy blended classic tracks with modern vibes, performing old favorites like “She’s a Bitch” while giving “Get Ur Freak On” a fresh twist with Ice Spice’s “Bikini Bottom.” During another part of her set, she appeared in a shiny trashbag outfit reminiscent of her famous look from “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” music video. Naturally, she also performed this 1997 Timbaland-produced classic.
The performance featured massive 3D animated versions of Missy projected on stage, similar to the visuals used during her Out of This World Tour last year.
Though Missy will be back for Coachella’s second weekend next Friday (April 18), the festival has plenty more excitement lined up, including headliners Travis Scott and Post Malone, plus performances from Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, beabadoobee and others.
