Young Thug appears to take shots at Gunna on his fresh track, “Money on Money.” Thug’s new collaboration with Future takes aim at folks who’ve been running their mouths to the cops.
“These fuck n***as tellin’ for nothin’, and I gotta be the one callin’ ’em friends,” he spits on “Money on Money.”
Later in the song, Thug raps, “Brother, you a rat (My brother)” followed by “Twin, you a rat, you smoked, uh.”
This combo had many fans convinced Thugger was calling out his former codefendant.
Thug discussed his connection with Gunna during a recent GQ interview. When questioned about where they stand now, Thug chuckled and replied, “I don’t know.”
While Thug claims uncertainty about their current relationship, he seemed pretty clear last year when he posted, “Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know you my guy,” on X.
Many trace the beef between Thugger and Gunna back to the latter’s 2022 Alford plea in the YSL RICO case. An Alford plea happens when someone pleads guilty while still claiming innocence. Gunna has repeatedly insisted his plea didn’t involve snitching.
“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” Gunna stated in December of that year.
Gunna’s attorney backed these claims.
“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail,” Sadow wrote. “He has said nothing and is not cooperating. His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”
Thug isn’t the only rapper on bad terms with Gunna. Lil Baby bluntly addressed their non-existent friendship during a Breakfast Club interview, stating, “We ain’t got no relationship.”
