Ab-Soul hasn’t hit the road to showcase his newest album Soul Burger, and now fans have the reason why. The TDE rapper took to X on Friday (April 25) to explain the situation behind his tour delays.
“SO, ACCORDING TO THE NUMBERS/ANALYTICS OR WHATEVER THE FUCC, A TOUR FOR ME HAS YET TO BE FINALIZED,” Soul posted.
“SOUL BURGER DROPPED LAST NOVEMBER. IM NOT POINTING ANY FINGERS, BUT DAMN. I FEEL LIKE THAT WAS SOME OF MY BEST WORK. SOMETHINGS IN THE WATER FA SHO.
“THIS FEELS SIMILAR TO THE END OF PHYSICAL DISTRIBUTION, WHICH ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN THE FALL OF MY FAMILY OWNED RECORD STORE ‘MAGIC DISC MUSIC’. I SUPPOSE I SAY ALL THIS TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE DELAY TO ANYONE WHO ANTICIPATES SEEING IT PERFORMED LIVE. I DO HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON.”
In a follow-up tweet, he clarified that he wasn’t taking shots at his team.
“TO BE CLEAR, THAT WAS NOT A JAB AT MY TEAM IN ANYWAY. EITHER THE GAME IS CHANGING(AS IT DOES AND WILL ALWAYS). OR I JUST DIDN’T CONNECT CREATIVELY. NONETHELESS, I CAN ADAPT. IM STILL WORKIN, STILL BLESSED, STILL MOTIVATED.”
Bas replied to Soul’s follow-up post, saying, “Spoken like a real one. The game has indeed changed. But we move brother. Excited for what’s to come.”
The Dreamville rapper also mentioned their previous tour together back in 2014, during Ab-Soul’s These Days run: “We might have to run our tour back. It’s only been a decade.” Soul responded with cry-laughing emojis.
Last year, Ab-Soul dropped his sixth album, Soul Burger, packed with guest spots from Vince Staples, Doechii, Ty Dolla Sign, JID, Lupe Fiasco, and Blxst, among others. The album features the previously released track “Squeeze 1st 2,” which some fans thought took aim at J. Cole, though TDE’s Punch later shut down that speculation.
Back in 2023, the 38-year-old rapper hit the road for his The Intelligent Movement Tour to promote his 2022 album, Herbert.
