Don’t be fooled by the rocks that she’s got—even Jennifer Lopez is weighing in on the economic situation.
Jenny from the Block posted on her Instagram Sunday (April 27), saying, “Due to inflation my love will now be costing a thing.”
If you missed the reference, this is a play on Lopez’s 2000 smash hit “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” where she tells her partner, “give me all the things I need that money can’t buy.”
The post, which first went viral in 2022 thanks to Twitter user Dalton Baker, is clearly just for laughs—and Lopez’s playful joke shouldn’t be taken as anything more than that.
That said, the economic troubles facing the United States and worldwide are no joke.
Several economists are saying “Let’s Get Loud” because they now think the global economy could easily slip into recession this year, according to a Reuters poll. Many blame President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs for hurting “business sentiment.”
Just three months back, these same economists had predicted steady global growth, but Trump slapping tariffs on all U.S. imports, including a massive 145% tariff on Chinese products, has spooked financial markets, tanked stock values, and shaken investor faith in U.S. assets.
Experts also caution that the world might fall into a stagflationary trap, with inflation remaining high while growth falls “On The Floor.”
A separate USA Today report indicates that nearly 100 days into Trump’s second term, the U.S. economy is showing serious warning signs, with consumer and business confidence rocked by federal job cuts, market volatility, and flip-flopping tariff policies.
Though Trump promised quick fixes for inflation and energy prices during his campaign, the report claims many Americans are saying “All I Have” are ongoing struggles with skyrocketing living costs, like groceries and other essentials. Not to mention mounting credit card debt and student loan payments.
Trump and Republican leaders are asking for patience, claiming their policies will eventually revive American manufacturing and create enough national wealth to “Get Right” and lower tax rates until you’re “Feelin’ So Good.”
However, Yale Budget Lab data estimates households will pay about $3,800 more due to the tariffs.
Meanwhile, Lopez is hitting the road with her Up All Night: Live in 2025 tour, her first concert tour in six years. The journey kicks off July 4 in Egypt and will visit Spain, Italy, Poland, and other international destinations.
