Jay-Z has updated his defamation case against Tony Buzbee and Jane Doe, now stating he’s lost massive amounts of money following sexual assault allegations.
Legal papers reviewed by independent journalist Meghann Cuniff reveal the hip-hop mogul lost at least $190 million in earnings, credit, and loans because of the lawsuit filed by Tony Buzbee representing Jane Doe. Doe accused Hov and Diddy of raping her in 2000, when she was just 13 years old.
The updated filing shows that Jay “lost other contracts in the sports and entertainment space that would have generated revenues of, at least, $20 million,” which would have brought in “many millions of dollars” more if the agreement had been fulfilled.
The rap icon was also turned down for a $55 million personal credit line, and his 50 percent-owned business, Roc Nation was denied a $115 million loan.
“We have agreements to produce entertainment programs for certain sporting events,” states the complaint. “After Mr. Buzbee filed the lawsuit, the media reported that other businesses could end their deals with Roc Nation, and forced one to speak out and address whether these false allegations would end our business relationship.”
In early March, Jay sued Doe for defamation after Buzbee voluntarily dropped her sexual assault case in February. Jay also launched a defamation lawsuit against Buzbee.
In a statement filed in early February, Jay initially claimed that her lawsuit caused a $20 million loss in income. This is the same document where Jay-Z blasted Buzbee and Doe for pursuing a “false lawsuit” and making “false public statements,” both of which he claimed damaged his career.
