Justin Bieber has been getting real with himself lately, and now he’s sharing those raw thoughts with fans.
On Friday (May 9), the pop star opened up about his flaws and mental health struggles through a series of Instagram posts, admitting he can be selfish at times. Back in March, Bieber expressed similar feelings, even confessing that he felt “like a fraud” and “unworthy.”
In the first of his recent IG posts, he wrote: “The truth is, I wake up every morning. Some days I’m optimistic. Sometimes I wake up pessimistic.”
He went on to explain that while he “can’t control” his feelings, he would “blame God” subconsciously instead of asking for a “change of perspective.”
“Once again it’s Easier to point the finger than it is to take ownership,” he wrote. “It’s easy to say damn their greedy rather than to check the greed in their own hearts.”
In his Instagram Stories, Bieber shared his worry about being “exposed” if he reveals how “selfish” he truly is. But after admitting this fear, he ended on an uplifting note, writing: “But the more honest I am about where I really am, the more freedom I actually have.”
Acknowledging he’s just an “average flawed guy” who’s “done things that have hurt others,” Bieber also dropped some thoughts on love.
“LOVE DRAWS US IN. LOVE DOESN’T CONDEMN. LOVE BELIEVES THE BEST. LOVE HOPES ALL THINGS. AND ENDURES ALL THINGS. IT DOESN’T KEEP RECORD OF WRONG. LOVE HELPS U TO FORGIVE AND LOVE EVEN YOUR ENEMIES,” he wrote.
The “Sorry” hitmaker also left fans with an Instagram note saying: “God uses the sneaky ones, not the holy ones. I’m the proof.”
Bieber’s reflective mood might be connected to his new role as dad to 8-month-old son, Jack Blues, whom he shares with wife Hailey Bieber. The Grammy-winner recently posted some sweet father-son bonding time with Jack while catching a hockey game on Instagram.
These deep thoughts could also be setting the stage for his upcoming seventh album, which fans are speculating will have a rap focus.
