Kim Kardashian took the stand about her terror that she’d be “shot dead” during the 2016 robbery that targeted her in Paris.
On Tuesday (May 13), she gave testimony at Palais de Justice in Paris, France, describing the 3 a.m. attack that happened during that year’s Paris Fashion Week. At the time, Kardashian was married to Ye, formerly Kanye West, who rushed from a New York show to be by his then-wife’s side.
NBC News reports that Kardashian shared how she was haunted by the thought that her older sister, Kourtney Kardashian, would discover her dead body in the hotel room and carry that “memory forever.”
“They threw me on the bed and the smaller one started to tie my hands,” the mom of four recounted. “I started to freak out,” she went on, saying that she asked the detained concierge, “what is going to happen to us?”
Kardashian also told one of the robbers that she needed to “go home” to her “babies,” North and Saint West, though the attacker claimed he “didn’t know” she was a mother. “Then they tied me up and I was hysterical,” she added.
The reality star and businesswoman, who also feared being raped during the ordeal, heard an apology note from one of the defendants, Aomar Ait Khedache, who is deaf and mute. While the apology, read out by the judge, made Kardashian “very emotional,” she stated that it “doesn’t change the emotions, the feeling and the trauma and the fact that my life has forever changed.”
The thieves made off with around $10 million in jewelry after holding Kardashian at gunpoint but left her physically unharmed. Kardashian tearfully opened up about the traumatic experience in a 2017 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians and on David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
Also expressing remorse about the heist was Yunice Abbas, who authored the 2021 book, translated to English as I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian.
