Drake just shared a petition demanding Tory Lanez be pardoned following his recent prison stabbing.
Drake posted “@torylanez come home soon” on his Instagram Story Friday alongside a link to a petition titled “Pardon Tory Lanez: Urge Governor Newsom to Correct a Deep Injustice.” As of now, the petition has gathered 173,352 signatures. It was first shared on Lanez’s own social media accounts.
On May 12, Lanez’s social media accounts posted news that he was reportedly stabbed 14 times behind bars. According to the update, both his lungs collapsed and he needed breathing support. “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the message states. “He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.”
TMZ reports that Lanez’s alleged attacker was Santino Casio, who’s reportedly doing life for murder. Casio previously got slapped with a six-year sentence for assaulting another inmate with a deadly weapon, plus two years for having or making a weapon while locked up. No motive for Lanez’s stabbing has surfaced yet.
Following Lanez’s stabbing, a non-profit called Unite the People claimed that testimony from a bodyguard proved his innocence in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, which put him behind bars. The group’s “lead consultant,” Walter Roberts, said a man named Bradley James, who claimed to be Megan’s friend Kelsey Harris’ bodyguard at the time, approached him saying he witnessed Harris admit to firing the weapon.
