Kali Uchis stirred up some mischief with a round of outrageous prank calls.
In the newest installment of Elle‘s Phoning it In series, the Colombian-American songstress rang up her friends JT, Kaytranada, and Omar Apollo to see how they’d handle some totally wild scenarios.
For her first unsuspecting target, she hit up Kaytranada, who was in Paris during the recording, asking if she could throw a red-themed album release bash for 150 people at his Los Angeles pad – complete with catering and painting his walls red.
With JT, she pretended a gossip site was about to drop a major story claiming the City Girls rapper had spread rumors that Uchis’ vocals on their track “Muñekita” were actually AI-generated.
For her final victim, she called Omar Apollo claiming ten of her Colombian relatives were landing that night and asked if they could crash at his place for four days, explaining she didn’t want to make them “uncomfortable” by booking them into a hotel.
Uchi’s fresh album Sincerely dropped earlier this month and fans can snag a gorgeous “shiny starlight” vinyl version exclusively at Complex Shop.
