Justin Bieber altered his Instagram caption about Hailey Bieber’s debut solo Vogue cover after facing heat online.
The pop star had originally posted the cover Tuesday (May 30) with words recounting a heated argument where he told his wife she would “never” land the cover of the prestigious fashion magazine.
“Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight,” he shared. “I told hails that she would never be on the cover of vogue. Yikes I know, so mean. For some reason because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even.. I think as we mature we realize we’re not helping anything by getting even. We’re honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection.”
This eyebrow-raising caption triggered plenty of reactions across social media.
Despite facing backlash online, Bieber showered his wife with praise in her Vogue feature, telling the magazine via email, “I’ve done a lot of dumb things in my life but the smartest thing I’ve ever done was marry Hailey.”
He also pointed out that because Hailey makes being a “mom and wife look easy,” she becomes an “easy target” for internet trolls, something he’s been fiercely defensive about.
The pair welcomed their first baby, son Jack Blues Bieber, last August.
