Sexyy Red Steps Up to Help After St. Louis Tornado: ‘Please Stay Strong’

Sexyy Red is among St. Louis’ biggest names, and she’s stepping up to support her hometown however possible after last week’s devastating tornado hit.

“St. Louis, my heart is with you,” the rapper posted on Instagram. “Idc what nobody say this the city that made me who I am so this is personal!! I have major plans to help us out I got us period just be patient and please stay strong. Let me know what y’all need so I can help out for now.”

On Tuesday (May 20) St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer held a press conference about the tornado’s destruction, which brought winds reaching 152 mph and stretched up to a mile wide.

“There aren’t words. Whole entire sides, fronts, backs, tops of homes are missing. People have wrapped their personal belongings in Saran wrap,” Spencer stated, according to St. Louis Magazine. “It is unbelievable what people are going through now.”

While she acknowledged the city is making “a Herculean effort,” she admitted it’s “not possible to address all the needs.”

St. Louis residents are still waiting for relief efforts from federal and state authorities. FEMA, the State Emergency Management Agency, and the U.S. Small Business Administration will spend three days in the city conducting a “preliminary damage assessment.”

The National Guard has already deployed a small team to the city to support recovery efforts, which are currently being led mostly by volunteers. A curfew is still in place.

KDSK reports that St. Louis Aldermanic President Megan Green mentioned that some of the $294 million settlement money the city got from the Rams after the franchise left could potentially fund relief efforts.

“Everything—including the Rams settlement—is on the table,” she stated.
