Diddy’s Defense Team Moves to Dismiss Kid Cudi’s Car Fire Testimony Citing ‘Lying’ Claims

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense attorneys filed a letter asking the judge to strike Kid Cudi’s testimony about his burned Porsche following his unsubstantiated accusation that the Bad Boy Records mogul was lying about his role in the incident.

When Cudi testified in Combs’ federal sex trafficking and racketeering case last week, the artist and actor discussed a meeting with the fallen music executive at the Soho House following the damage to his vehicle.

Although Cudi’s description of Diddy “standing there like a Marvel supervillain” dominated news coverage, Combs’ legal team believes attention should center on a moment when Cudi was questioned about whether he trusted Diddy’s denial of knowledge regarding the torched Porsche.

Following Judge Arun Subramanian’s decision to overrule an objection from Combs’ attorney Brian Steel, Cudi proceeded to call Diddy a liar.

Combs’ defense argues that Cudi’s statement represents personal opinion, and Judge Subramanian should remove his testimony concerning the Porsche firebombing from court records due to its potential influence on jurors.

Prosecutors seem to be using the 2012 incident, alongside other examples, to build their case that Combs participated in a racketeering pattern that includes arson.

According to Us Weekly, Steel previously argued that DNA evidence from the car belonged to a woman. Combs’ defense team also noted that Cudi had previously “admitted he had no personal knowledge ‘that anybody affiliated with Mr. Combs was on or around [his] property at the time of the damage to [his] vehicle.'”
