Kai Cenat wasn’t pleased when a fan interrupted his livestream with a pro-Ye speech.
The Twitch sensation ended up in an awkward situation while at the American Music Awards on Monday (May 26), when a man suddenly approached him, along with his daughter and wife, asking about the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
“Hey, where’s Kanye?” the man asked, while Cenat chuckled awkwardly.
“We want to say we love Ye,” the man went on. “We love Ye for being outspoken regardless because it’s America and I think it’s a great thing to live in a free country. Don’t you, Kai? It’s a free country and it’s cool to have opinions.”
Cenat fired back, “You really hopped on my stream, knowing my influence, to come on here and say that?”
“I think he’s a great guy,” the man remarked, before suggesting the popular streamer should “have a dialogue with him.”
“Here’s what I’ma say, I think I want to protect my energy,” Cenat replied.
“I think you letting him talk is a good thing,” the man added.
“I’m gonna politely ask you: get out of here, guys,” Cenat said as the man tried to argue that having “opinions is a good thing.” “Please, I get it, but I don’t want that. Whatever you got going on, you deal with that.”
He quickly changed direction when two Marines in uniform approached him asking for selfies.
Ye’s unpredictable actions in recent months, including repeated antisemitic comments and praise for Adolf Hitler, canceled a planned livestream Cenat had arranged to do with the rapper in Japan.
At other moments during the AMAs, Cenat looked genuinely shocked when Eminem took home Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist, defeating Drake, Future, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler, The Creator.
“Let’s be real. I fuck with Slim Shady but let’s be real,” he commented during his stream. “Eminem is tough but let’s be real though, gang.”
