Kevin Gates Opens Up About Six-Year Semen Retention Journey: ‘It’s So Powerful’

Kevin Gates keeps his self-control on point.

The Baton Rouge rapper, known for delivering eyebrow-raising statements, joined the Monday (May 26) episode of podcast The Truth After Dark and shared with hosts Paul Pierce and Azar Farideh his reasoning behind practicing semen retention. Gates, who’s in a relationship with Brittany Renner, started discussing the topic around the 11-minute mark of the video below.

“It’s probably been going, maybe, six years now,” Gates explained. “I don’t look at women objectively … ’cause I could just go masturbate.”

The “Thinking With My Dick” artist said he learned about the significance of ejaculation while “engaging intimately” with a woman who became sexually frustrated with him.

“I was spiritually aligning myself with somebody and she was [like], ‘You don’t cum?’ I said I don’t.” Gates remembered. “She got upset with me and I was like, ‘Why is this such a big deal? She changed in all her energy–’Cause I want it–and that’s when I realized the value that the life force has. It’s so powerful that it can create a child.”

Gates explained that there are “exercises you can do to move the energy” for “orgasms to stay on the inside.” “‘Cause after you release you feel weak.”

When questioned about his motivation, Gates said his goal with semen retention is to “manifest.” “We could create a child or we can give birth to whatever we manifest in our business,” he explained.

Gates also brought up the feminine release of “Amrita” which he described as the “golden fluid,” recognized in Eastern spiritual practices.

“That gives immortality the elixir of life,” he detailed. “When they took the cells from the woman and they looked at them under the microscope, they kept on recreating and recreating and recreating the melanated woman.”

Gates has discussed semen retention previously, including in a 2024 episode of Million Dollaz Worth of Game, where he confessed to having a “wet dream here and there.”

Joey Badass shared a comparable view on semen retention back in 2022, though he’s currently expecting a baby with actress-singer Serayah.
