Nicki Minaj firmly rejected a fan’s claim that she’s hiding her sexuality.
The rapper graces the cover of the latest Vogue Italia edition, and one photo shows her striking a playful pose inside a closet while dressed in a pink outfit with matching heels. This image led a Barb to suggest that Minaj might be queer.
“This is more than just a picture,” the fan posted on X, formerly Twitter. “It’s showing Nicki in the closet because she’s dl.”
Minaj shared the tweet again with a simple “No.”
Despite being a beloved figure in the gay community, Minaj has been addressing queer rumors since 2010, even though some of her past lyrics suggested otherwise. In a previous Rolling Stone interview, Minaj put the speculation to rest, stating, “I think girls are sexy. But I’m not going to lie and say that I date girls.” She was dating her ex-boyfriend Safaree at that time.
Minaj has likely grown accustomed to her fans making jokes about her previous gay baiting, telling Vogue Italia that the Barbz possess their “own sense of humor.” “If you get it, great. If you don’t, so be it,” she explained.
What the rap superstar did reveal is that she’s preparing to drop her sixth album, featuring “really strong songs” that the Barbz will love. “I want the album to mean something, for the fans and for me,” she shared.
