John Mulaney has proven he’s willing to get down and dirty by actually stepping onto the mat to wrestle three teenage boys — check out the footage below.
During Wednesday’s (May 28) episode of his Netflix talk show, Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, the actor/comedian made good on his word to battle three 14-year-old boys after building up this monthlong storyline on the program.
“Four weeks ago, I promised to fight three 14-year-olds. From thousands of submissions, we selected three young men that are about to join me on the mat,” Mulaney announced, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “All you at home, all you’ve done is talk, talk, talk. It’s time to end the smack talk, end the conjecture and settle this, man-to-boy.”
The guidelines were straightforward — no punching, kicking, gouging, biting, and pinning. Headlocks were permitted, as long as “the arm is encircled.”
A live studio audience watched as special guest Adam Sandler handled the introductions for the teenage challengers, who showed up wearing matching suits and ties along with their wrestling attire. Executive producer Richard Kind did the honors of introducing Mulaney, who ended up getting jeered by his own crowd before giving them the finger.
The concept for this bit came from the internet’s massively popular “100 men vs. one gorilla” discussion that went viral.
“I think a lot of those simulations online are super-flawed, because it’s going to be a pile,” Mulaney explained at an FYC event for his talk show, according to IndieWire. “People might be picturing one young man — I think it’s going to be all three jumping on me, and that’s what I’m preparing for.”
Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney is available for streaming on Netflix right now.
