Donald Trump has been questioned about whether he would consider pardoning Sean “Diddy” Combs if the music mogul gets convicted in his sex trafficking and racketeering case, and he didn’t seem to completely dismiss the idea.
According to USA Today, on Friday, May 30, Trump was asked by Fox News Reporter Peter Doocy whether he’d entertain a pardon for Diddy if he’s found guilty in his federal trial in New York. “Well, nobody’s asked,” he responded. “I know people are thinking about it.” He explained that he hadn’t had any conversations with Diddy in years, despite numerous photos of them together, and hinted that perhaps the Bad Boy Records founder kept his distance after Trump entered politics.
He made it clear that personal feelings wouldn’t influence his decision, though. “If I think somebody was mistreated, whether they like me or don’t like me, it wouldn’t have any impact on me,” he explained.
Recent reports suggest that Diddy’s inner circle is actively working to secure a possible pardon from Trump in case the trial goes against him. Sources familiar with the situation indicate that many people connected to Diddy are “making connections with the Trump team” to improve their odds of obtaining a presidential pardon.
Suge Knight, Diddy’s former adversary, has also voiced his opinion that he thinks Sean Combs will “be all right” and could “probably” receive a pardon from Trump if he’s convicted. So there’s certainly been discussion about this possibility, even though there’s no clear timeline for when the trial might conclude, making it one of the most closely watched cases in recent memory.
Meanwhile, the second alleged victim in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial testified on May 29, delivering emotional testimony about repeated sexual abuse and mistreatment.
