The ‘Holy Airball’ trend on TikTok appears to be gaining traction among celebrity children.
This month, the kids of well-known figures like Reese Witherspoon, Akon and Randy Jackson have playfully introduced themselves and their parents’ achievements on the platform. The offspring of David T. Abercrombie, co-founder of Abercrombie & Fitch, and Nina Diaz, creator of former MTV reality show My Super Sweet 16 have also participated in the trend.
One example of a TikTok is Ava Phillippe, the daughter of former couple Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, who posted: “I told him my mom’s a lawyer,” over a photo of herself. “He said, ‘Oh, what firm does she work at?'” she added, referring to her mom’s role as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde series. The video concludes with images of Witherspoon and the ‘holy freakin’ airball’ tagline.
For background, the phrase combines ‘holy cow’ and ‘airball,’ indicating that the person questioning their parents’ credentials completely missed the mark in trying to dismiss them.
The trend also challenges the perception of these famous children being nepo babies, as they’re showing pride in their parents’ celebrity status. Each video features the 2005 Jeezy and Akon classic “Soul Survivor,” though these children haven’t exactly experienced tough circumstances.
Speaking of Jeezy, the Atlanta rapper recently took his managers to court for alleged financial wrongdoing.
TMZ got hold of court documents revealing that the rapper (real name Jay Wayne Jenkins) has accused his manager and business manager, Solomon Fornie and Eddie Bridgeman, of taking advantage of him financially.
Jeezy and Fornie established the company, Agency 99, to handle Jeezy’s money, but their partnership spans 10 years. Bridgeman’s company, The SaiSai Group, also stepped in to help manage Jeezy’s finances. Jeezy has now alleged that Bridgeman wasn’t a licensed CPA at the time.
