The Game has unveiled his personal ranking of LA’s top 100 rappers following Complex’s list that dropped last week.
On Sunday, the Compton rapper posted his list on Instagram alongside an extended caption where he questioned who greenlit Complex’s ranking but acknowledged that “playas f%?k up too.” He then expressed his devotion to Los Angeles and emphasized how he’s never “abandoned it” before declaring “I AM LA.”
“I’ve mastered the art of surviving in this city that has claimed so many & believe when I say.. I’ve been in the trenches since my birth. 45 years the music created here has been the soundtrack to my life & here I stand today as one of thee koldest rappers in the history of the city, state & coast I’ve given my blood sweat & tears to,” he wrote on Instagram. “Everybody on this list know what it is with me out here & those not on the list understand that the names above from top to bottom best represent this city & its culture.”
He continued, “The few rappers on the list that weren’t specifically born here are on the list because of their dedication & choice to ride with the city once they got here. It’s non debatable !!! Argue all you want to but this is how I feel… if I’m wrong, challenge my pen & let me remind you of what & who I am.At the end of the day, this MY LIST PUNK !!!! 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, and The Game himself claimed the top spots while other LA legends like Kurupt, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Nipsey Hussle, Y.G, Warren G, will.i.am filled out the Top 25. The Game initially joked that whoever created the original list had been “smokin that good dope” when it first came out.
He also hinted that fresh music could be on the horizon. “All the motivation I needed to finish The Documentary 3!!” The Game wrote. “Y’all got Game f#%ked up!!”
