Even though his net worth reaches into the billions on paper, MrBeast reveals he’s turning to his mom for wedding financing.
Last month, Dexerto posted on Twitter claiming the popular YouTuber is “the only billionaire under 30 to not have inherited his wealth.” However, a community note corrected this statement, noting that 28-year-old Alexandr Wang, CEO of Scale AI, is also a self-made billionaire.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, replied to a tweet on Monday (June 2), stating, “I personally have very little money because I reinvest everything (I think this year we’ll spend around a quarter of a billion on content). Ironically i’m actually borrowing $ from my mom to pay for my upcoming wedding lol.
“But sure, on paper the businesses I own are worth a lot,” the 27-year-old continued.
Donaldson and Thea Booysen got engaged on Christmas Day 2024.
According to Business Insider, Donaldson revealed his company, Beast Industries, brought in just under $500 million in total revenue last year. The company is projecting its earnings to hit $899 million in 2025.
During his appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast, Donaldson shared that his Beast Games series for Amazon’s Prime Video, which has already been picked up for second and third seasons, “lost tens of millions of dollars.”
“For me, it was about making season one as good as possible. I can’t let the YouTube community down because creators don’t have a good rep when it comes to doing stuff on streaming platforms,” he explained, according to Business Insider. “If I fail, it’s over; no streaming platform is ever gonna touch a YouTuber ever again.”
Later in the interview, Donaldson confirmed he has “less than a million dollars” in his bank account.
