Walton Goggins is addressing the speculation that he had a disagreement with his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood.
The two actors, whose characters Rick and Chelsea became a beloved couple in Season 3 of the popular HBO series, sat down with Variety for a new interview. Fans had theorized there was tension between them after noticing they were no longer following each other on social media.
“I think it’s such a comment on where we’re at culturally. Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don’t give a shite about Instagram,” said Wood, 31. “Why not have conversations about the story and Rick and Chelsea and enjoy it?”
She explained that initially, she wanted to set the record straight on people’s assumptions. But she realized that anything she said would get misinterpreted.
“Eventually I just started to sit back and watch these people making something out of absolutely nothing,” she said.
“If I may add, just to put this to bed?” said Goggins, 53. “The following or unfollowing. I’m a grown-ass man.”
Later in the interview, Goggins laughed and said to Wood, “You know what? I’ll follow you right now!”
The new interview comes a month after Goggins declined to answer questions about an alleged disagreement with Wood during an interview with The Times.
“I’m not gonna have that conversation,” Goggins told reporter Ed Potton, with his American publicist adding, “We’re not going there, thank you.”
“There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me,” Goggins told Variety, while reportedly becoming emotional and turning to look at Wood. “This is Goldie Hawn. This is Meg Ryan. She can do anything, and she will. You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be. I’ll be on an island, I think Greece. But she’s special. There is no feud. She is love and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.
“What am I gonna do, speak for both of us? Never,” he added, before referencing Potton’s question about if the actors ever bonded over their teeth. “What he was insinuating, it was so disgusting. It was so appalling. I was flabbergasted. And I said, ‘Fuck mate, wow. I think we’re done here.'”
