Real Housewives of New York star Brynn Whitfield won’t be coming back to the franchise if and when Bravo chooses to continue with it.
“After a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision to walk away from reality TV. For now,” Whitfield posted on her Instagram Stories on Monday, June 9.
“The Real Housewives of New York City will always be one of the most fun, chaotic, and magical chapters of my life. It was the honor of a lifetime to help reboot such an iconic franchise. From day one, I’ve believed RHONY is a fan’s show — we’re just temporary custodians of something that truly belongs to the viewers,” she continued.
Whitfield’s announcement comes more than one month after the network announced that the rebooted series was going on an indefinite hiatus.
On May 7, Bravo revealed some of its upcoming shows, including a brand new Housewives franchise, this time in Rhode Island. Notably absent from the announcement, however, were the New York and New Jersey franchises.
Earlier this year, RHONY finished its second full season (after a complete cast overhaul) in January. During the Season 15 finale, Whitfield and co-star Ubah Hassan had words after tensions built between the two women throughout the season. Their relationship fell apart quickly after Whitfield felt that Hassan suggested that she had “slept with someone” to get her role on the show. It appears Whitfield’s difficult season took its toll, and she’s ready to move on from the show. She has a few things to anticipate, including the launch of a new book.
“Prepare to laugh, cry, and possibly poop when you read my book coming out later this year. To date, I’ve only shared a fraction of who I am, what I’ve been through and what I’ve learned. It’s the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever written,” she posted on her Instagram Stories.
