Scooter Braun Says He’s ‘Rooting’ for Justin Bieber, Admits Their Relationship Is ‘Not the Same’

Scooter Braun says he’s still cheering Justin Bieber on, even though their relationship isn’t what it used to be.

During his appearance on the June 9 episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, the Hybe America CEO was asked about where things stand between him and Bieber. The two officially parted ways in 2023, a year after Bieber suddenly canceled his Justice World Tour.

TMZ previously reported in May that Bieber owes Braun $9 million due to the tour’s early shutdown.

Around the 24-minute mark of the interview, Braun reflected on their time working together, saying, “We were able to achieve some amazing things,” and added that he’s “proud” of Bieber and “always rooting for him.” Still, he admitted, their relationship is “not the same that it was.”

Scooter Braun reflected on the natural shift in his relationship with Justin Bieber, saying, “I think these things go in ebbs and flows. There comes a point where I understand he probably wants to go on and show that he can do it.”

Having worked with Bieber for years and achieving major success together, Braun noted that the pop star had simply reached a point in life where “you want to show the world you can do it on your own.”

“And I completely respect that,” he added. “I think at this point, that’s what he’s doing. Myself and everyone from the old team is rooting for him.”

Before stepping away from artist management in 2024, Braun saw several high-profile departures from his roster, including Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato. His long-standing feud with Taylor Swift over the ownership of her masters also made headlines.

Still, Braun said he wasn’t bitter about the split with Bieber or trying to pivot careers. “We were both communicating enough with each other. The writing was on the wall,” he said.
