Jane Doe, the anonymous woman testifying in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing racketeering and sex trafficking trial, returned to the witness stand Wednesday for another round of tense back-and-forth with Diddy’s lawyer, Teny Geragos—and things got heated.
Geragos spent the day dissecting nearly two years of Jane’s text messages with Diddy, from early 2022 up to just before Cassie Ventura filed her lawsuit in November 2023. Though the texts weren’t disputed, their meaning sparked plenty of fiery debate.
One particularly charged exchange came from July 2022, when Jane asked Diddy, “What are you thinking about?” during plans for a meetup. He replied, “Call Italian or Paul is free”—referring to two escorts previously mentioned in court. While Jane testified that this meant she had no other options for the night beyond what Diddy wanted, Geragos pushed back, saying those were just suggestions.
The lawyer often took a sarcastic tone, like when he brought up a lavish $15,000 birthday dinner Diddy paid for in February 2023. “You didn’t have a great birthday dinner that he paid for?” he asked. Jane replied, “No. I just wanted to have a happy moment in a sad time.”
Geragos also pressed her on why she downplayed Diddy taking her to Nobu in Miami—calling it just a convenient way to avoid leaving the hotel before one of their so-called “hotel nights.” Jane said she had asked to go somewhere else, like Carbone, because she wanted “to be properly romanced.”
“You wanted diamonds, right?” Geragos asked at one point, referring to a Van Cleef jewelry gift from Diddy. Jane responded, “I just wanted Sean.”
Throughout the grilling, Geragos pointed to affectionate messages Jane had sent after hotel nights, and even times they spent together without escorts. Jane explained her participation came from pressure and emotional manipulation, not real consent. “I’m just going along with it because this is what he wants,” she said. “If I see him, there’s a request for a hotel night.”
Even when Diddy threatened to end the relationship over her reluctance, she said he would always come back aggressively—blowing up her phone, sending people after her, and eventually pulling her back in emotionally. “I resent him for all of it,” Jane said near the end of the day.
Geragos insisted Jane had agreed to everything at the time, even if she now regrets it.
Her cross-examination is set to conclude Thursday. One of the next expected witnesses is Jonathan Perez, whose online resumé identifies him as a former senior assistant to Diddy at Combs Enterprises.
