Young Thug is toying with the idea of trading rap for streaming—and he seems pretty serious about it.
During a recent appearance on Adin Ross’ Kick stream, Thugger joked that he might ditch music altogether after getting a glimpse of the streamer lifestyle and the kind of cash Ross pulls in.
“I’m gonna stop doing music and start streaming,” he said with a laugh. “I think I’m gonna stop. I’m telling you, I’m done rapping and gonna start streaming.”
But it wasn’t just about the money. Thug went on to explain what really caught his attention. “Y’all live a cool life,” he said. “Y’all go everywhere every day. Y’all got cats wandering around this bitch. Y’all got all types of crazy stuff.”
Looks like the unpredictable world of streaming might just have a new contender if Thugger decides to make the switch.
Young Thug’s streaming curiosity makes a lot of sense when you look at the numbers. Adin Ross is reportedly worth around $24 million as of 2024, and iShowSpeed told Complex last year that his net worth is closing in on $10 million. Meanwhile, Thug—despite years of success in the rap game—sits at an estimated $8 million. That contrast alone says a lot.
But before Thug fully trades the mic for the stream, he’s got some music on the way. His next album, UY Scutti, is still in the pipeline. In April, he dropped what fans believe is a lead single from the project, “Money on Money” featuring Future. The album’s title is inspired by the supergiant star located about 9,500 lightyears away—because of course Thugger would take it cosmic.
Thug, who was released last October after taking a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, last delivered Business Is Business in 2023.
And if you’re hoping to catch him live, you’re in luck—he’s hitting the stage this October at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, alongside heavy hitters like Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Yeat & Friends, Ken Carson, and 2hollis.
