Former Bad Boy Records security chief Gene Deal didn’t hold back in a recent interview, blasting Mase for allegedly spreading lies and showing disrespect toward the legacy of Notorious B.I.G.
Speaking with The Art of Dialogue, Deal called out Mase and Cam’ron for reportedly joking about Biggie’s security the night he was killed. He claimed, “they not telling the truth” and accused them of purposely leaving out key names. Deal argued that Mase, as Biggie’s labelmate, had a responsibility to warn him that “these dudes want you dead.”
Deal recounted a moment before Biggie’s death when Mase and Stevie J went to a celebrity basketball game where Crips allegedly told them they were targeting both Diddy and Biggie. According to Deal, while Mase did pass the message to him and Diddy, he “never mentioned a damn thing to Big.”
Gene Deal continued his takedown of Mase, calling out the rapper for fabricating stories and questioning his motives surrounding the night Notorious B.I.G. was killed.
Deal dismissed Mase’s claim that he was hiding in a room with Brandy during the shooting. “He was not in the room with Brandy,” Deal stated. “Cause he said, ‘Brandy was calling me trying to get me to go to the party with her.’ So you in the room with her, why is she calling you?”
He accused Mase of chasing Biggie’s spot at the top of Bad Boy Records, suggesting that his silence may have been intentional. “They talking and laughing about security didn’t shoot, and if the world’s greatest rapper, number one on the label, gets killed, Mase said that his life don’t mean anything. Well, I guess, Mase, you got that number one spot — or you wanted that number one spot — ’cause you didn’t tell Big. You didn’t tell Big, bro. And you still didn’t get the number one spot, ’cause Diddy took it.”
Deal also cleared the air on what really happened with security that night. He said when Biggie was shot, his driver put the car in park and ran, while others like D-Rock and Paul also took off. Deal stressed that Mase “wasn’t even there” and had no right to speak on what Bad Boy’s security did or didn’t do.
To back up his credibility, Deal recalled warning underground rapper Maserati Fox about a threat shortly before his death. He said he gave Biggie the same type of warning: “My man, don’t go to this party. One of y’all going to die tonight.”
