Nelly and Ashanti admit they “hated” each other before finding their way back to love and eventually starting a family.
In the trailer for their upcoming reality series Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together, the couple opens up about the rocky feelings that lingered after their 2013 breakup.
“I hated her,” Nelly says in the clip. Ashanti doesn’t hold back either, responding, “I hated him. I didn’t think that we would get back together.”
But eventually, love won. “She got me y’all!” Nelly laughs.
The show, premiering June 26 on Peacock, dives into their relationship journey, from the early days to their rekindled romance and now, life as partners and parents. Viewers can expect to see them navigate celebrity events, parenting differences, and big decisions like where to settle down.
Peacock’s press release describes it as a “fun-filled exploration of love’s second chances,” following the duo as they balance love, parenting, and their demanding careers.
Nelly and Ashanti welcomed their son, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes, last July. Reflecting on the experience, Ashanti shared, “Funny how life’s plans aren’t… always on time.. lol. I’ve been waiting to be a mom for a long time now but nothing could prepare me for EVERYTHING motherhood brings!”
