Wendy Williams’ Ex-Husband Kevin Hunter Files $250 Million Lawsuit to End Her Guardianship

Wendy Williams’ Ex-Husband Kevin Hunter Files $250M Lawsuit to End Her Guardianship: Claims She’s Being “Abused, Neglected, and Defrauded”

Kevin Hunter, ex-husband of Wendy Williams, has filed a massive $250 million lawsuit aimed at ending the former talk show host’s court-ordered guardianship, calling it “a weapon, not a shield.”

According to documents obtained by Page Six, Hunter alleges that Williams—referred to by her married name in the filing—is being mistreated by her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, along with former financial advisor Lori Schiller and ex-manager Bernie Young, among others. He claims she’s being “abused, neglected, and defrauded” under their care.

Hunter says medical advice has been ignored and that Williams is being held in “fraudulent bondage.” TMZ previously reported that she scored a perfect 10 out of 10 on a recent cognitive “capacity test.” Williams later appeared on The View, saying she once welcomed the guardianship to protect her finances, but now wants out. “At this point in my life, I want to terminate [the] guardianship and move on with my life, if that’s possible at all,” she said.

The suit claims Williams was “coerced” into guardianship while under “immense financial duress and emotional strain,” and that Schiller and Young misused her money—allegedly spending tens of thousands without her knowledge.

Williams has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, primary progressive aphasia, and frontotemporal dementia. Still, Hunter argues she has been overmedicated and excessively restricted, despite passing a competency evaluation in March 2025 and being described by healthcare professionals as “alert and oriented” during welfare checks.

In a January appearance on The Breakfast Club, Williams compared her current living situation to “prison.” “I am not cognitively impaired but I feel like I am in prison,” she said, referencing a facility filled with elderly individuals.

Hunter also accuses Morrissey of financial mismanagement, claiming she failed to make timely payments on Wendy’s obligations, resulting in unpaid bills and neglected responsibilities.

The lawsuit lists a wide range of allegations including violations of free speech and access to courts, unlawful isolation, ADA violations, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, professional malpractice, and defamation.

The $250 million in damages reflect what Hunter says are Williams’ financial losses under guardianship, including $20 million per year in earnings, her $80 million estate, a $4 million condo, over $10 million in personal belongings, and extensive reputational damage.
