Cam’ron has finally shed some light on why there’s never been a Drake and Dipset collaboration—and it turns out, it’s not that deep.
During a recent episode of Talk With Flee, the Harlem rapper revealed the real reason: he simply never asked. “I have no idea,” Cam admitted when the topic came up. “I never really asked Drake to do a song, to be honest with you. That’s a great question. You have to ask everyone in Dipset.”
So, the lack of a collab? Just a case of no one making the first move.
Cam’ron made it clear there’s no bad blood between him and Drake—just no studio link-up yet. On Talk With Flee, he described their relationship as cool and friendly, saying there simply hasn’t been a moment where he felt the need to ask for a feature.
“We’re cool, just as friends,” Cam explained. “The opportunity never really presented itself for me, personally. It’s not like I asked him to do a song and he didn’t do a song. I just never asked him to do a song.” He also noted that Drake has always shown Dipset love, even sampling their music—something Cam confirmed was cleared with no issues at all.
While Cam can only speak for himself, he hinted that other Dipset members might have their own stories when it comes to potential Drake collabs.
Jim Jones, for one, has openly praised Drake over the years—once calling him the unofficial fifth member of Dipset and even saying the 6 God has done more for the culture than most. Still, he famously passed on signing Drake early on, admitting he didn’t know what to do with “an actor in a wheelchair.”
