Kai Cenat linked up with NYC Mayor Eric Adams to figure out how to pull off a large-scale giveaway without the chaos that surrounded his 2023 event.
In a clip from their conversation, Kai asked, βIs there a world where I can ever give back on a big scale but the right way?β
Mayor Adams assured him itβs possible, pointing to the massive Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves boxing event held in Times Square this May, which drew βa couple hundred thousand people.β He emphasized that the success came from proper coordination with the city.
Adams broke down the right way for Kai Cenat to plan a large-scale giveaway moving forward.
βNow that you see your influence, youβve leveled up. You canβt keep doing things the same way,β Adams told him. βNow you sit down with my team, we bring in the right agencies, you lay out your planβ¦ and the city helps make sure everything runs smoothly.β
Kai was on board, saying, βIt would be fire if I did it the right wayβdid it one more time for the people.β
This comes after his August 2023 giveaway at Union Square spiraled out of control, ending in chaos and his arrest. Authorities said the event lacked proper permits and police clearance. Cenat, 23 at the time, faced charges including inciting a riot and unlawful assembly.
In May 2024, the case was dropped after Kai agreed to pay $55,000 and issue a public apology.
βI apologize for the disruption and damage to the community, the park, the vehicles, and the storefronts in the area,β he said. βI understand how the gathering hurt local businesses and their workers, and Iβm sorry to the first responders who had to clean up the aftermath of that irresponsible promotion.β
