Jim Jones got candid about his relationship with longtime love Chrissy Lampkin during a recent interview with Angie Martinez, revealing just how deep their bond runs.
The Dipset rapper shared that he’s had a crush on Chrissy since they were younger, and over the past two decades, she’s remained a constant in his life.
“I haven’t had too many relationships in my life,” Jones told Martinez. “She’s a dope person and she’s very solid and she’s been through a lot… We come from Harlem. You know, I’ve had a crush on her since I was younger.”
He went on to praise her wisdom and loyalty, saying Chrissy has stood by him through some of the “worst times” in his life—solidifying her place not just as his partner, but as his rock.
Jim Jones shared more about the early sparks between him and Chrissy Lampkin, revealing that his interest in her started long before they officially met. Back when he first started recording music, Chrissy was already aware of him—and she didn’t hold back her sass.
“She would see me and pick on me every now and then,” he recalled. “Like, ‘Tighten up. Do ya hair.’ Shit like that.”
The two eventually met in Miami while Jones was, in his words, “faded,” and the moment hit him hard. “It felt like Diana Ross turned around,” he said, describing the encounter. From that moment, he knew Chrissy was different—and that he had to treat her accordingly.
“No matter what, every woman needs a protector,” he said. “And I knew that I had to be that for her, for who she was. And I had to let n***as know, Do not play with me. I’m going to go above and beyond over her.”
Fans of Love & Hip Hop watched the couple each propose to the other on the show. But more than a decade later, they still haven’t tied the knot. Jones admitted that being on the show brought “pressure” to get married. Just last month, even Ciara chimed in, encouraging him to finally walk down the aisle with Chrissy.
