Former 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.
According to TMZ, the 33-year-old was taken into custody on Monday, July 7, in Floyd County, Georgia, for allegedly distributing the sedative Tranq—a dangerous mix of fentanyl and Xylazine. The drug is linked to the February death of John Mark Harris, who died at home from drug toxicity.
Harris’ mother, Lisa, told TMZ she felt a sense of relief after Purvis’ arrest. “Glad nobody else must go through this because of her actions,” she said. “I feel sorry for her—not because she got arrested, but because her life got to a point of dealing drugs.”
The arrest follows a tragic personal loss for Purvis. Just a month ago, her 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr., passed away from health-related complications. She shared Weston Jr. with her ex, Weston Gosa Sr., and the former couple also have a younger son named River.
Purvis has publicly grieved the loss of her son on social media, also revealing that she was excluded from his funeral. In a Facebook post, the former reality star shared that her relationship with Weston Sr. is deeply strained, claiming, “he does his best to make sure I suffer.”
“He didn’t want me there or my family and friends,” she wrote. “He invited over 100 people and I invited like 20, and he told me only my mom and uncles could come.”
Purvis also defended herself as a mother, adding, “I’ve made mistakes in life but I wasn’t a horrible mother like they treat me.”
