JAY-Z Denies Longstanding Paternity Claims, Tells Court Allegations Are ‘Fabricated’

JAY-Z is officially pushing back against years-old paternity claims, telling a federal court that the accusations are completely “fabricated” and part of an ongoing pattern of harassment.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, July 10, the hip-hop mogul’s legal team responded to a federal lawsuit filed by 31-year-old Rymir Satterthwaite. Satterthwaite alleged back in May that JAY-Z—real name Shawn Carter—is his biological father, a claim the rapper has consistently denied over the years.

“The fabricated allegations and claims have been addressed – and rejected — in multiple other courts,” JAY-Z’s attorney said, according to Us Weekly. “And [Satterthwaite’s] continued harassment of [Jay-Z] and disregard of those orders has already resulted in a contempt order.”

The attorney added that the current lawsuit is simply “the latest” move in a “decades-long harassment” campaign.

Rymir Satterthwaite has long claimed that his mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, had a brief affair with JAY-Z in the 1990s, resulting in his birth. He further alleges that the rapper has spent years trying to hide the truth and “silence those who dared to speak it.”

Satterthwaite’s previous lawsuits have been thrown out by multiple courts, but he insists the dismissals were the result of what he calls JAY-Z’s shady legal maneuvers—claiming the rapper has “exploited legal systems in multiple jurisdictions” to avoid accountability and kill the paternity claim.

In one of the more extreme claims, Satterthwaite alleged in court documents that he was shot six times, suggesting it was “a message intended to silence him.”

JAY-Z appeared to reference the long-running rumor on his 2018 track “Heard About Us,” off his Everything Is Love joint album with Beyoncé.

“Billie Jean in his prime/For the thousandth time, the kid ain’t mine/Online they call me Dad, kiddingly/You’re not supposed to take this Dad thing literally,” he rapped.
