Deondre Burgin, ex-boyfriend of former Disney star Skai Jackson, was arrested on July 14 in Newport, Kentucky by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and local authorities. The 21-year-old, also known as Yerky Yerky, was taken into custody over a warrant linked to a violent carjacking that occurred in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 21.
According to reports, Burgin and an accomplice allegedly pistol-whipped a victim before stealing their Mercedes-Benz C300 and a Glock handgun. The victim suffered facial injuries and had to be hospitalized.
This arrest is just the latest in a string of legal issues for Burgin. Earlier this year, Skai Jackson, 23, filed for a restraining order against him in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing domestic abuse. The filing revealed that one of the alleged incidents took place while Jackson was holding their infant son.
In August 2024, Skai Jackson was also arrested at Universal Studios in connection to a domestic dispute involving Deondre Burgin.
Since news of Burgin’s recent arrest broke, the Jessie star has stayed silent on social media, but fans have shown an outpouring of support, especially following her restraining order filing.
“Sick of seeing so many headlines of Black women celebs having to deal with abusers lately, I desperately want better for them all. Hoping Skai and the baby are safe,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “It’s so common for young women to become famous and end up with awful men. It’s so heartbreaking — I hope her and her baby are safe!”
And in response to Burgin’s carjacking arrest, one Reddit user posted a photo of a dumpster with the caption, “your carriage, sir.”
