City High’s Robbie Pardlo Dies at 46

Robbie Pardlo, one-third of the early 2000s R&B trio City High, has reportedly passed away at the age of 46.

TMZ reports that Pardlo died on Thursday, July 17, at his home in Willingboro, New Jersey, surrounded by close friends and family. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

He is survived by his wife, Anika Pardlo, their two children, Lyric and Chord-Andrew Pardlo, his mother, Marion Pardlo, and his brother, Gregory Pardlo.

City High—made up of Robbie Pardlo, Ryan Toby, and Claudette Ortiz—was mentored by Wyclef Jean and signed to his Booga Basement label. The group released one self-titled album in 2001, which debuted at No. 34 on the Billboard 200.

That album featured the breakout hit “What Would You Do?” which earned them a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, as well as the fan-favorite single “Caramel” featuring Eve.

In 2023, Ryan Toby opened up about City High’s breakup during an appearance on Tank and J. Valentine’s R&B Money podcast. He shared that Robbie Pardlo became “unfocused” as tensions grew between him and Claudette Ortiz, whom he had been dating since high school.

Toby and Ortiz later got married in 2004 but divorced just three years later. The former couple share two children together.
