Katy Perry Almost Takes a Tumble Off Butterfly Prop Mid-Concert

Katy Perry had a close call during her Lifetimes Tour stop in San Francisco.

While performing her hit “Roar” at the Chase Center on Friday night (July 18), the pop star was riding a suspended butterfly prop when things got shaky—literally. The massive prop suddenly lurched forward, nearly tipping toward the crowd below.

Perry quickly grabbed the head of the butterfly to steady herself, glancing up at the crane above with concern. Despite the scare, as the butterfly continued to sway across the arena, she regained her balance and cautiously picked the performance back up.

The butterfly mishap was just one of several awkward moments Katy Perry has faced on her Lifetimes Tour lately. During a recent stop, fans requested she sing her emotional breakup ballad “The One That Got Away”—just weeks after her public split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom.

The two had been together for nine years and share a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, making the fan request all the more uncomfortable for the pop star.

Before kicking off her latest tour, Katy Perry opened up about the toll social media has taken on her, saying she’s often felt like a “human piñata” online.

“I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed,” she shared in a heartfelt Instagram post back in March.
