Scooter Braun Opens Up About Kanye West Rift: ‘I Don’t Know Who He Is Anymore’

Scooter Braun is breaking his silence on his strained relationship with Kanye West, revealing that he no longer recognizes the person Ye has become.

In a recent episode of Question Everything with Danielle Robay, the music executive reflected on his former client and longtime collaborator, saying, “I don’t know him anymore.” Braun went on to address Ye’s years-long controversies, including his antisemitic remarks and disturbing nods to Nazi ideology.

“The person that I knew wasn’t someone who says those things,” Braun explained. “Sometimes the hardest thing to do with someone you care about is mourn them while they’re still here. The person that I knew is not the person that I’m seeing, so I don’t have a relationship anymore.”

As someone of Jewish heritage—his grandparents were Holocaust survivors—Braun made it clear he wants no part in Ye’s current rhetoric, choosing instead to lead with “positivity,” “grace,” and “kindness.”

When asked if Ye is capable of redemption, Braun didn’t have a clear answer but emphasized that his energy is now focused on being a present father.

“I don’t know him,” he said. “And I think right now, I have three beautiful kids that need a dad to focus on them and make sure they’re prepared and strong in this world. That’s going to be my focus.”

Scooter Braun officially stepped away from music management in June 2024 to focus on his role as CEO of HYBE America—a position he has since also exited. Over the years, Braun managed a powerhouse roster that included Kanye West, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Justin Bieber. Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Braun recently reflected on his longtime working relationship with Bieber.

“We worked together for so long and we had such extreme success, and I think you get to a point as a man where you want to show the world you can do it on your own,” Braun said. “I think at this point, that’s what he’s doing.”

As for Ye, he claimed back in May that he was “done with antisemitism” and publicly asked for forgiveness on social media. But given his past behavior, the apology was largely met with doubt and criticism.
