Billie Eilish revealed she’s teaming up with iconic director James Cameron on a 3D project currently being filmed during her four-night stint in Manchester.
During her Co-op Live show on Saturday night (July 19), Billie surprised fans with the mysterious announcement. While she kept most details under wraps, she explained that she’d be rocking the same outfit throughout all four shows to keep things consistent for filming.
“You may have noticed there are more cameras than usual in here,” she told the crowd. “I can’t say much, but what I can say is I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron—and it’s going to be in 3D.”
She added, “So take that as you will. These four shows here in Manchester, you and me are part of something I’m making with him. He’s somewhere in the crowd, just so you know. Also, I’ll probably be wearing this same outfit for the next four days straight.”
Cameron was reportedly in the crowd during Saturday’s show, only adding to the buzz around what this mysterious project could be. Fans quickly lit up social media with theories, speculating whether it might be a documentary, a short film, or a next-level music video.
Known for groundbreaking work on Avatar and Titanic, James Cameron’s legacy in immersive storytelling makes this potential team-up with Billie all the more exciting. And if this turns out to be a full-blown film, it wouldn’t be Billie’s first dive into the cinematic world.
She’s previously released Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry and the animated concert special Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles. Right now, she’s on the road for her Hit Me Hard and Soft world tour, supporting her third studio album.
After finishing the European leg, she’s heading to Japan, and will then return to the U.S. to wrap up the tour in San Francisco on November 23.
