Pirates Fans Flock to PNC Park Early for Mac Miller Bobblehead Giveaway

Pittsburgh Pirates fans showed up in full force at PNC Park to score a special tribute to hometown hero Mac Miller.

On Saturday (July 19), the team honored the late rapper with a limited-edition bobblehead giveaway, handed out to the first 20,000 fans as the Pirates faced off against the Chicago White Sox. Eager supporters began lining up as early as 10:00 a.m.—lawn chairs, snacks, and all—for the 6:40 p.m. game, turning the stadium entrance into a full-on fan zone.

The buzzworthy bobblehead showcases Mac Miller in a white Pirates jersey repping “412”—a nod to Pittsburgh’s area code—along with his iconic “Most Dope” finger tattoos and a black-and-gold yin-yang cap. Even cooler? The base includes a button that plays his hit “Knock Knock.”

This heartfelt tribute was part of the Pirates’ annual “Yinzerpalooza” weekend, a celebration of all things Pittsburgh. Mac, who passed in 2018, had deep ties to the city and the team—he even threw out the first pitch at PNC Park back in 2015.

Fans could also grab a special-edition Mac Miller t-shirt at the Pirates clubhouse store. Proceeds from the tee go toward the Mac Miller Fund, which supports music programs for underserved youth and provides resources for addiction recovery in the music industry. The black-and-yellow shirt features lyrics from “Smile Back” and yin-yang symbols on both sides.
