Adria Arjona Steps In for Taylor Russell in Michael B. Jordan’s The Thomas Crown Affair Reboot

Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced that Adria Arjona will star alongside Michael B. Jordan in the upcoming reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair.

As reported by Deadline, Arjona steps into the role following Taylor Russell’s recent departure from the project, which came just last week due to creative differences—despite principal photography already being in motion in London.

The Thomas Crown Affair is getting a sleek reboot, and Adria Arjona is officially on board to star opposite Michael B. Jordan.

The film follows a sharp insurance investigator who begins to suspect that a suave banking executive is behind a string of elaborate heists. Arjona’s role mirrors the characters once played by Faye Dunaway in the 1968 original and Rene Russo in the 1999 remake. Jordan not only headlines as the titular Thomas Crown, but also steps behind the camera as director.

Joining them in the ensemble cast are Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. Jordan is producing the film through his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo. Charles Roven produces for Atlas Entertainment, with Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff also credited. The screenplay comes from Drew Pearce, building on earlier drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, while Alan Trustman—the original 1968 screenwriter—serves as executive producer.

Amazon MGM Studios has locked in a theatrical release date of March 5, 2027. Filming is currently underway across London and other European locations, with production expected to span eight weeks.

Arjona joins the film fresh off her work on Amazon’s Blink Twice, directed by Zoë Kravitz, and the upcoming crime series Criminal. Her recent screen credits include Disney+’s Andor, Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, A24’s Onslaught, and the Spanish-language drama Los Frikis.

The Thomas Crown Affair marks Michael B. Jordan’s second time directing—and his first creative pairing with Arjona. Development on the remake began in 2016, with Jordan already attached to star. The project moved to Amazon following its merger with MGM in 2021.
