Anthony Mackie’s Sci-Fi Misfire Elevation Climbs to No. 4 on Amazon Streaming Charts

Anthony Mackie’s sci-fi gamble Elevation is finally rising—just not in theaters.

After a disappointing theatrical run in November 2024 that brought in just $3.6 million globally against an $18 million budget, the post-apocalyptic thriller has found new life on streaming. As of Monday, July 21, Elevation has climbed to No. 4 on Amazon Prime Video’s global movie chart, according to FlixPatrol.

Anthony Mackie’s sci-fi thriller Elevation is having a surprising second wind—just not the way the studio originally envisioned.

After a flop of a theatrical run in November 2024, where it brought in only $3.6 million worldwide on an $18 million budget, the film has soared to No. 4 on Amazon Prime Video’s global movie chart, according to FlixPatrol as of Monday, July 21.

It now trails only Follow, The Accountant 2, and the John Cena–Idris Elba action-comedy Heads of State. But what’s really turning heads is how strongly the film is performing in Latin America—it hit the No. 1 spot over the weekend in Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Honduras, Uruguay, and the Dominican Republic.

Directed by The Adjustment Bureau’s George Nolfi and co-produced by Mackie himself, Elevation centers on Will (Mackie), a single father surviving in the Colorado Rockies after Earth is taken over by Reapers—electrically-charged, insect-like creatures. With his son losing hope and supplies running low, Will braves rogue militias, icy terrain, and deadly monsters in search of a rumored outpost that may hold the key to humanity’s survival.

While critics gave the film a lukewarm 55% on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences were far more forgiving with an 80% rating. That critic-audience gap, paired with Mackie’s post-Falcon rise to Captain America status, likely sparked fresh interest on streaming.

Elevation’s resurgence highlights just how powerfully platforms like Prime Video and Max can reignite buzz for films that didn’t connect in theaters.

The movie is now available to stream on both services.
