More heartbreak has struck Dog the Bounty Hunter’s family—this time involving a devastating loss.
According to TMZ, Dog’s stepson Gregory Zecca, the son of his wife Francie Frane, accidentally shot and killed his 13-year-old son, Anthony, in what’s being described as a tragic accident. The incident occurred Saturday night inside the family’s apartment in Naples, Florida.
A spokesperson for Dog and Francie told TMZ, “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.” The family is requesting privacy as they try to process the tragedy.
Local authorities have labeled the shooting an “isolated incident.” No arrests have been made as the investigation remains ongoing. It’s still unclear how the shooting happened or what led up to the gun being fired. Zecca has not publicly addressed the tragedy.
Dog and Francie married in 2021 after both experienced the loss of previous spouses. Dog’s late wife, Beth Chapman, passed away in 2019 after a highly publicized cancer battle. Francie had also lost her husband, and the shared grief between them helped form a deep bond.
In a past interview with Entertainment Tonight, Francie said, “We understood the pain that the other one was feeling and those tough days and moments, we helped each other stand up. We could cry with each other and talk about what we were feeling.” She added, “We were able to walk alongside each other through the pain and heartbreak and it brought us together in this amazing way.”
RIP, Anthony.
